The Chinese Journal of Environmental Law (CJEL) publishes international, comparative, and national research and reviews concerned with environmental law and policy. While CJEL aims to present leading research work from or concerned with China, other Asian regions, and the developing world at large, the journal’s geographic coverage is unlimited, and its scope is intentionally broad. It encompasses diverse areas of international, regional and national environmental law, including biodiversity law, climate change law, energy law, environmental assessment law, marine environmental law, natural resources law, planning law and pollution law. It also includes emerging institutional developments such as environmental courts, and innovations in compliance and enforcement.

Submissions

• Research articles of 6,000 to 10,000 words (notes included)

• Country reports and notes on recent developments of 2,000 to 7,000 words (notes included)

• Book reviews of 750 to 2,000 words

Following an editorial screening, all submissions are subjected to a double-blind peerreview process before an editorial decision is made. While ensuring a high level of review, we strive to communicate an initial editorial decision within 6 to 8 weeks following submission. Selected articles and other contributions will be accessible in “open access” format.

Authors are responsible for formatting the submissions following the Fourth Edition of the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA), available at: https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/sites/files/oxlaw/oscola_4th_edn_hart_2012.pdf. In addition, authors are requested to capitalize family names (as in “QIN Tianbao” and “Ben BOER”) to avoid confusion.
