Gloria Chelang’at is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya. She received her LLB degree from Moi University in Kenya. She is an LLM graduate from the University of Oregon School of Law. Before her LLM, Ms. Chelang’at worked at the office of the Attorney General in Nairobi as a pupil, and thereafter stayed on as a legal researcher. She then joined the firm of J.K .Kirui and Company advocates in Kericho where she worked as a litigation advocate. After a year, she moved to the firm of Kairu & McCourt advocates in Nakuru where he worked as an associate advocate for a year before going the United States for her postgraduate studies.

Gloria wants to become an expert in International Environmental Law and Policy. She hopes to help in drafting and implementing sound policies governing the environment and natural resources for Kenya and other developing nations in Africa. She is in the process of setting up a consultancy firm with fellow lawyers and advocates in Kenya and offer services on Public Interest Environmental and Natural resources law locally, regionally, and internationally.

Gloria’s research is focused on Implementing International Environmental Law in domestic courts. Her PhD focuses on the Environment and Land Court of Kenya exploring how the said court is implementing International Law in Environmental Governance at the domestic level.
