On the afternoon of December 13, 2018, the eighty-third Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law was held in classroom 325 of law school. Prof. Marjan Peeters gave a lecture on “The power of law for combating change: a discussion of EU climate law”. This lecture was hosted by Dr. Hu Bin. PhD and master students from RIEL attended this lecture.
At the beginning of this lecture, Prof. Marjan Peeters introduced the international background of climate law and focused on content of EU climate law. The EU’s climate law system, which includes a series of legislation and a large number of case laws, is one of the most demanding climate laws in the world. And she analyzed the two main legal systems: effort sharing and emission trading. Later, Prof. Marjan Peeters shared her opinions on the legal challenges of climate change litigation.
At last, those present teachers and students had a friendly and pleasant exchange on the lecture’s content. The lecture ended in a warm and relax atmosphere.
