On September 15-16, 2018, the 2018 national environmental law PhD students forum was held in law school of Wuhan University. The theme of this forum is “The mission of environmental law in the new era”. Eighty doctoral supervisors, PhD students and master students from Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political science and Law, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tianjin University, Nanjing University, Chongqing University, Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Central South University, Xiangtan University, Fuzhou University, Hunan Normal University, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economic, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Macau University of Science and Technology, Dowway and Partners Law Firm and Wuhan University, attended this forum.
The opening ceremony was chaired by PhD He Yingying on the morning of September 15. Deputy director of the education department of graduate school Hu Jiagang, deputy party secretary of law school Xie Yawei and director of RIEL Qin Tianbao attended the opening ceremony and delivered a welcome speech.
This forum is divided into two parts: the special reports conducted by well-known environmental law scholars in China, and academic exchange conducted by environmental law PhD students. On the first part, Prof. Sun Youhai from Tianjin University, Prof. Zhang Zhen from Southwest University of Political Science and Law, Prof. Li Ainian from Hunan Normal University, Prof. Qin Peng from Chongqing University, Prof. Huang Mingjian from Macau University of Science and Technology, Prof. Chen Haisong from Central South University all gave wonderful reports. On the second part, nearly 20 PhD students and master students from different universities across the country have had excellent academic exchanges. After PhD students’ reports, Prof. Wu Weixing and professors from RIEL made comments and gave abundant guidance for PhD students.
The closing ceremony was chaired by PhD Su Yunfang on the morning of September 16. Prof. Ke Jian, deputy director of RIEL, delivered the closing speech and expressed the thanks to experts and students on behalf of RIEL.
It’s reported that the national PhD forum is dedicated to provide an academic platform for environmental law students, widen the academic horizon of PhD students, inspire PhD students’ innovative thinking and improve the quality of PhD students. This forum has been held for four times and has been widely valued and praised by domestic and foreign environmental law PhD students. Nowadays, this forum has gradually developed into a well-known national environmental law PhD students forum.
