On May 24, 2018, organized by the China South China Sea Research Institute and the China International Law Society and the University of Virginia’s Ocean Law and Policy Center. the “Asia-Pacific Cooperation and Participation” Theme Symposium i.e. the University of Virginia Ocean Law and Policy Center No. 42 annual session of the Law of the Sea opened in Beijing.

The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Legal Counsel Miguel Serpa Suarez congratulated the meeting on the video. Wang Hong, director of the State Oceanic Administration, delivered a keynote speech at the meeting. Professor Qin Tianbao from RIEL and the Chinese Institute of Boundary and Oceanography were invited to participate in the conference and give presentations. Prof. Qin Tianbao gave a keynote speech entitled “EIA in Protection and Preservation of the Marine Environment” in the second module “Marine Environmental Protection”.
