Prof. Wang Jin guested on Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law

On the morning of September 24, 2017, the fifty-sixth lecture of the Luojia Series on Environmental Law was held at the 325 classroom of the law school. We invited Prof. Wang Jin of Peking University to give a lecture on the theme of "the Value and Rights Spectrum of Environmental Law". This lecture was jointly presided over by Zhou Xiaoran, doctoral student of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, and Nan Jingyu, doctoral student of RIEL. Prof. Yu Wenxuan, Director of Institute of Environmental Resources Law, China University of Political Science and Law, Prof. Gao Lihong from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Prof. Kejian, Prof. Du Qun, Prof. Ben Boer, Prof. Alexander Zahar, Associate Prof. Liu Jing and doctoral students and master students attended the lecture.

Prof. Wang Jin first expressed gratitude to the invitation. He then pointed out that the values and rights spectrum of environmental law are related concepts. Only by taking environmental interests as the interests of law and the right of law can we promote the legal protection of the environment. The content of Prof. Wang Jin's lecture is divided into two parts.

The first part mainly deals with the rights and interests of the environment. In the second part, Prof. Wang Jin talked about the rights spectrum of environmental law and its relationship. After that, Prof. Wang Jin raised two questions to students: whether the existing civil rights can provide sufficient system guarantee for the right request of environmental interests highlighted by environmental pollution and destruction? If it is not possible, should the type of civil rights be expanded, or should it be created outside the civil law system through, for example, environmental law? The students were enthusiastically discussed.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Gao Lihong and Prof. Du Qun gave a brief comment and summary of the lecture. The lecture ended in a warm atmosphere.
