RIEL and the Friends of Nature establish cooperative relationship

On the afternoon of May 18, 2017, the Research Institute of Environmental Law of Wuhan University and Friends of Nature of Beijing Institute of Environment held a simple but yet solemn signing ceremony in RIEL, the two sides formally established a comprehensive cooperative relationship.

Prof. Qin Tianbao, Director of the Research Institute of Environmental Law, Wuhan University and Mr. Zhang Boju, Director General of the Friends of Nature, signed the agreement respectively. Associate Prof. Li Qijia, Prof. Ke Jianbing, Associate Prof. Li Guangbing, Associate Prof. Liu Jing, Director Hu Bin, Director of Law and Policy Advocacy of Friends of Nature Ms. Ge Feng, Ms. Zhou Xiuqin, the principal of “Shuguang environmental charity”, representatives from Hunan "Green Xiaoxiang" environmental protection organizations and doctoral, master students of RIEL witnessed this ceremony.

After signing, Prof. Qin Tianbao and Director General Zhang Boju respectively addressed. Director Qin Tianbao stressed that the signature is not the most important; it is important how to implement. In the future, the Institute of Environmental Law and Friends of Nature will cooperate in all areas of cooperation research, personnel training, common progress and policy advocacy and institutional development, and develop together. Mr. Zhang Boju briefly introduced the relationship of RIEL and the "Friends of Nature", he hoped that the cooperation of the two institutions could create a good time for rule of environmental law.

After the signing ceremony, Wuhan University Institute of Environmental Law Luojia Environmental Law Forum forty-eighth lecture was held in the law school 325 classroom. This forum has the honor to invite Mr. Zhang Boju, Director General of the Friends of Nature and Ms. Ge Feng, Director of the Law and Policy Advocacy Department of Friends of Nature. They together brought a wonderful lecture entitled "The Way in Public Interest of Environmental Lawyers". The forum was chaired by Prof. Li Qijia, Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Environmental Law, Wuhan University.

Mr. Zhang Boju gave a lecture entitled "the process of promoting environmental management by social organizations - Friends of Nature as an example". Ms. Ge Feng's theme is "the public interest road for environmental lawyers". Subsequently, President Li Juan made a brief comment on the two statements. Prof. Li Qijia has given comments on the two speakers in the course of the lecture, and expressed gratitude. Prof. Ke Jian also expressed his views on the structure and operation of the three major environmental organizations in the United States. Prof. Ke Jian said that today's lectures are also learning opportunities for him and he expressed his sincere admiration for environmental charities in China.

Then, the attendants and Mr. Zhang Boju and Ms. Ge Feng had a broad discussion, this lecture ended in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
