陈祥军教授做客讲坛,从生态人类学视域探讨环境习惯法
Prof. Chen Xiangjun visits Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law
On November 16, 2016, the 41th Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law invited Prof. Chen Xiangjun from the South-Central University for Nationalities. He gave a wonderful speech entitled “Research on Chinese Environmental Customary Law Based on Ecological Anthropology”.
Prof. Chen Xiangjun presented customary environmental law of Kazakhstan by taking the Altay region of Xinjiang as an example based on his own long-term literature research and field survey experience. He introduced the research methods and branches of anthropology with relevant theories and concepts as the starting point, focusing on combing the research objects, scope and characteristics of cultural ecology, ecological anthropology and environmental anthropology.
Then Prof. Chen Xiangjun listed a series of examples to introduce and explain the Kazakh customary law from the perspective of social organization and environmental protection. Finally, he pointed out that conflicts between customary law, especially environmental customary law, and national law happened more frequently due to the rapid “modernization” and the non-continuity and instability of national law, how to properly solve this problem will make sense to comprehensive understanding of the ecological and environmental behaviors and maintain the nomads and grassland ecology.
