Dr. Fu Lu visits RIEL Alumni Salon

On the afternoon of October 13, 2016, the 13th RIEL Alumni Salon invited 2001 alumna Fu Lu, who is now the director of China Office of Clean Air Asia. She gave a speech entitled “Occupational Experience of an Environmental Law Graduate”. Clean Air Asia is an international NGO that leads the global mission for better air quality and healthier, more livable cities in Asia. It reduces air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in over 1000 cities in Asia through science-based policies and programs that cover air quality, transport and industrial emissions and energy use.

As a graduate of RIEL, Dr. Fu Lu shared her practical comprehension and understanding with her personal experiences. She has practiced and worked in the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), environmental consultancies (Beijing & Wuhan) and the Clean Air Asia (CAA) since 2003. During the presentation of the current CAA, Dr. Fu introduced the model of urban capacity building with graphs from the perspective of reports, seminars and information construction, taking the air quality management in CAA working areas as an example. Also she pointed out that everyone will have a certain period of exploration before finding their own works.

Prof. Qin Tianbao made a summary of the lecture and appreciated Dr. Fu’s sincerity and selflessness, stressing that students must first have directions and goals and have full confidence in the very broad employment prospects of environmental law. Also, Prof. Qin encouraged everyone to take full advantage of the platform and resources of RIEL, focusing on the promotion of comprehensive quality, but avoiding excessive freedom.
