Prof. Qin Tianbao attends the first drafting workshop on “Law of Biodiversity Conservation (Proposal)”

On August 22, the first drafting workshop on “Law of Biodiversity Conservation (Proposal)” sponsored by China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation(CBCGDF) was held in Beijing. Prof. Qin Tianbao, as well as several representatives, experts, professors, researchers from the CBCGDF, State Forestry Administration, China Association for Science and Technology, China National Committee on Biodiversity Conservation and other relevant agencies, attend the workshop.

In this drafting workshop, Prof. Tan Baiping from Beijing University of Technology, who is the written expert of “Law of Biodiversity Conservation (Proposal)”, introduced the guiding ideology, scope, main contents and problems to be addressed of the proposal. Prof. Qin Tianbao pointed out in his speech that the following works must be carried out in order to better serve the legislative purpose, including seeking the necessity and space for legislation, determining the legislative Orientation, and effectively using foreign experience.

It is noted that CBCGDF will convene three high-end academic workshops in the second half of this year, to discuss the feasibility, scope and main contents of the “Law of Biodiversity Conservation”, its proposal is expected be submitted to relevant department in 2017.
