Domestic and overseas top experts on environmental law attend conferences in WHU

On September 9-10, the International Conference on Compliance and Enforcement of Environmental Law & the 4th Sino-European Conference on Environmental Law were held in RIEL, nearly 40 experts and scholars from domestic and overseas well-known colleges and universities and law firms attended the conference, as well as over 50 students in school of law, WHU.

The opening ceremony was held in the morning of September 9, chaired by “1000 Talents Program” Distinguished Prof. Ben Boer. The conference was divided into five units, the first is entitled “Compliance and Enforcement of Multilateral Environmental Agreements”, both the second and the third ones are “A Comparative Study of Environmental Law Enforcement and Environmental Law Compliance in China”. And The fourth and fifth units are “the Development of Environmental Law Principles and Environmental Rights in the context of Environmental Law Enforcement and Environmental Law Compliance”.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Qin Tianbao, the director of RIEL. Prof. Luc Lavrysen from Ghent University, Belgium and Prof. Ben Boer from RIEL made concluding speeches. Prof. Luc Lavrysen fully appreciated the discussion on environmental law compliance and environmental law enforcement, and spoke highly of the preparation, organization and services of this conference. Prof. Ben Boer introduced the basic information and submission process of the Chinese Journal of Environmental Law.
