The Summit Forum on Environmental Rule of Law held by RIEL enjoys wide attention

On July 14-15, the 2016 Summit Forum on Environmental Rule of Law of China was successfully held in RIEL. Participating experts and scholars focused on “legal issues on soil pollution prevention and control in the context of ecological civilization” for advice and suggestions of China's soil pollution prevention legislation. The forum received extensive attention by a number of news agencies, newspapers and websites.

According to incomplete statistics, the forum has attracted over 10 media, including the Xinhua News Agency, China News Service, China Youth Daily, Legal Daily, Hubei Daily, Sina, Interface News, publishing dozens of articles. On July 15, China News Agency first report the forum with the title of “2016 Summit Forum on Environmental Rule of Law of China held in Wuhan”, Subsequently, Xinhua News Agency, China Youth Daily and China Environmental News covered the forum successively in next few days, triggering public opinion and widespread concern of soil pollution control.

In the various media news reports, the generally concerned issues include: First, the nationwide first regulations on soil pollution prevention and control which will be formally implemented on October 1 this year; Second, the legislative model, legislative priority, local standards and legislative purpose at the national level; Third, the factors should be considered in the design of relevant systems; Fourth, the legislative model more worthy of reference in the world.
