RIEL’s work for the state environmental and resources trials approved by SPC

In the SPC Workshop on Advance of Environmental and Resources Trials on July 27, the Supreme People’s Court published the “Environmental and Resources Trial of China” (White Paper), which positively affirmed RIEL’s work for the state environmental and resources trials.

In the November of 2015, RIEL was determined to be the SPC Theory Research Base of Environmental and Resources Justice, which organized a research group composed of several universities and legal practice departments. The research base hosted and attended several seminars on environmental and resources trials at home and abroad. It held the Seminar on Environmental Rights and the Civil Law at the founding day. On June 13, 2016, Prof. Wang Shuyi, Prof. Lv Zhongmei attended the International Seminar on Judicial Response to Climate Change sponsored by SPC. And teachers and students of RIEL attended the International Annual Colloquium of IUCN Academy of Environmental Law in Norway on June 22-24, 2016. The base has developed a series of specialized researches on Chinese and foreign environmental and resources justice. It has also collected about 100 foreign public interest litigation cases and conducted the investigations on local environmental tribunals.
