Dr. Dai Liping visited Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law

On March 17, 2015, the 21th Luojia Lecture Series on Environmental Law invited Dr. Dai Liping, who is the researcher from the Center of Water and Ocean Sustainable Development Law, Utrecht University, Netherland. She gave a lecture entitled “Legal Issues of River Basin Resources and Regional Integration Governance” for teachers and students of RIEL.

Dr. Dai’s lectures mainly consisted of present situation of China’s water resources, China's legal system and institutions of water governance as well as the dilemma of regional integration governance. First, Dr. Dai pointed out the uneven distribution of water resources and serious pollution in China, especially the serious agricultural pollution. Then she introduced China’s legal and policy system of water governance from our country’s policy planning and relevant laws and regulations, and briefly described the decisions on environment and water in “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” and “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”. Finally, Dr. Dai Liping detailed the existing obstacles and difficulties between central and local, local and local, and local and river basin institutes from the principles of regional integration governance. She also briefly introduced the Water Boards of Netherland and expressed her views on the feasibility of learning from the Dutch experience.

It is said Dr. Dai Liping’s doctoral research program is “Legal Issues in the Transformation of Chinese Water Governance”, she has participated several international academic meetings and published many English papers on this theme during her period of PhD, this lecture is an important part of this program.
