The the Australian Centre for Agriculture and Law specialises in developing and applying innovative trans-disciplinary methods to rural law reform research. It currently has collaborative projects underway in Australia, USA, Iceland, China and Brazil, as well as doctoral research projects on rural natural resource governance issues in Thailand and Papua New Guinea. The Centres projects span issues of natural resource governance and indigenous peoples social justice. Natural resource governance projects include mining/farming conflict, sustainable land use, institutional arrangements for community participation, the control of invasive plants and animals, forest governance, and collaborative regulation. Indigenous peoples issues include minority interests in forests, the protection of indigenous interests in bush food, Aboriginal governance arrangements, and the effects of scientific commodification of plants. The Centre prides itself on the use of innovative strategic methods, and upon its genuine commitment to engagement with communities as a core philosophy of its research methods'
